House buyers gain their first glimpse of contemporary living in one of Edinburgh’s most historical villages thanks to the launch of The Cedars show home by upmarket house builder, Applecross.
The luxury show home in Colinton has been designed by Edinburgh interior experts, Zebrano, who have created a restful haven featuring inspirational designs from international painters and designers such as Fornasetti and Florence Blanchard.
The Cedars development comprises 22 individually designed apartments including four penthouses. The apartments range from 2 - 4 bedrooms and all have been architecturally designed to maximise their position and aspect in terms of interior space, natural light and views. The apartments boast fine views to the Pentland Hills and surrounding parkland, from its location next to the grounds of Merchiston Castle School, one of Edinburgh’s most distinguished private schools.
All The Cedars apartments have an open plan lay-out with a spacious, light and airy feel complimented by hard wood floors in all public areas and attractive wooden window frames. Under floor heating means there‘s no need for radiators which take up valuable wall space. An attractive gas fire from Stonecraft acts as a focal point for the living space whilst stylish opaque sliding glass doors separate the kitchen from the living area, in most apartments.
All the apartments are generous in size with two bed apartments averaging 1,543 sq ft, and the largest penthouse totalling an expansive 2,385 sq ft. A choice of interior layouts means some apartments have additional rooms such as sun rooms, reading rooms and dressing rooms. Each apartment has a decked balcony, terrace or patio providing additional outdoor living space to enjoy.
Parking is made easy due to a secure underground car park, which allows for two parking spaces per apartment and enables the landscaping around the building to be free of cars which adds to the development’s tranquil feel.
Kitchens International has designed the kitchens which include integrated appliances, granite worktops and a choice of finishes from a pre-selected range. The separate laundry is another popular feature.
High specification bathrooms and ensuites have Hansgrohe Eco-stat showers and Duravit suites. The penthouse bathrooms have Aqualisa dual control showers which cleverly enables the shower to be turned on from outside the shower cubicle.
Technology is also discreet with hidden structured cabling enabling audio and digital features to be easily installed and integrated with no unsightly cables. The apartments also have programmable scene setting lighting for the sitting and dining room, with the penthouse also having this feature extended to the master bedroom.
The first phase of The Cedars has now been released with 2-bedroom properties from £650,000, 3-bedroom properties from £710,000 and a 4-bedroom penthouse at £1.4 million.
